Okay, i started out with a 86 gsxr750. At this point it was all stock down to the pipe. Only the paint was not oem...I had put an additional 27,000mi on it the last 2 yrs it was on the road. That would have been back in '05
Anyways, I started stripping the bike down ...

anyways, I decided early on this was going to be a modded-stock look rebuild.Something that could hang with the new liter class bikes, but still look like a stock 86 gsxr 750. So, i stripped it down to a bare frame. And after months of reasearch decided on using an '03 954rr rear shock. That required modding the rear subframe and making a new lower shock linkage to fit the shock in. In that time I had also built an underbraced and 4.5" longer swingarm. I designed a 93-94 WC gsxr rear cailper mount into it also. So- i no longer have an external brake torque arm. I also settled on a n '03 gsxr 750 front fork set. with Race Tech internals. I had the frame, swingarm and all brackets powder coated.

Im using '01 wheels front and rear. '01 1k triples and 6 pot calipers. '06 Busa master cyls and levers.( they look like stock '86's but use newer levers) A modified '01 1k ignition switch and right switch gear. A '01 B-12 left switch gear with thumb choke for my carbs. I run a Veypor VR2 digital dash. Every visible bolt/nut on bike is polished S/S.

Then i decide to buy an '04 B-12 engine to see if it will fit in the frame.(1157cc) Figure out if you take the breather off, oil pan and oil pump and pick up it has just enough room to slide in. Then you reassemble it in the frame...but of course I have to punch it out to a 1216 before I install it. Its got the head ported by Dale Walker, it had high lift race cams in it. But I just took them out and stuck a set of stg 1 cams back in it today. I run an '01 B-12 oil cooler along with Dale Walkers Large stepped tube race header and mid, with a hand built Blue Flame EVO dual outlet can. I adapted the '04 B-12 wire harness and CDI box to work in my 86. I use a set of 36mm TPS feedback carbs. The TPS feeds back to the CDI and constantly changes the spark curve for smoother running and better acceleration. It runs better than most EFI bikes...

I also designed and turned my own Ti steering stem that allowed me to run the '01 triples in my 86 frame with all my 86 bearings and mounting/adjuster hardware. I then decided to use a set of aftermarket Billet rearsets also made to fit an '01 1k.I used these because of ease of availability if broken and looks of course. I made a set of 6061 billet adapter plates to mount them up with.

Then the forks came back, cleaned em up and installed front end, Ohlins damper, engine and made a 6061 billet bracket to adapt B-12 oil cooler to fit my 86 frame.

I also built a custom 4 spring HD clutch for it out of various year gsxr parts.
Stock;

MINE:

 The trans gears are all double undercut and dry moly impregnated. It has ceramic double row bearings and hardened input and output shafts in it also

I rode it like that for about a year. Then finally decide to break down and do a full repaint with OEM decals and all...You cant imagine what this cost to paint and decal ...
heres the paint progress. I helped my painter throughout the entire process. I actually did the decals at his shop myself..
He based in white...

Then we started laying the stripes in...

Then we went to the lower and mids...

Then we finally finished it up, I still needed a mid pipe made at this point...

the actual build was alot more detailed than this post describes. With a years worth of R&D to design, make and fit all the custom stuff. And keep it looking somewhat stock. I just hit on the highlights and tried to keep it short for yall.

As the bike sits now it weighs in at 474lbs WET. Has 152rwhp and 92 ft lb torque(with the stg 1 cams and 36mm carbs)
If you any Q's just ask.....
