2012 Advanced Riding Clinic Schedule
« on: December 12, 2011, 09:25:02 am »
Hello ETB!

I know that people like to spend money on goodies and aftermarket add-ons for their bikes to improve performance but I am going to urge you all to set aside a few bucks to spend on yourself in 2012. I promise this will be one of the best and most useful "performance mods" you can do for your ride.

When you modify your bike with pipes, jet kits, custom mapping, suspension mods and so on, you are purchasing a certain "known quantity" of performance. As we all know, a bone stock bike, right off the show room floor can do amazing things when Colin Edwards is gripping the bars, and on the flip side, a rookie on a MotoGP bike isnt going to ride any better than he does on a stock machine.

So, with that in mind, my question is; Why dont people spend more money on improving their riding skills? Is it pride, ego, or the "cool" thing to do? Does a person that wants to be a doctor simply go out and buy the best equipment possible and start cutting people open, or do they first invest in their mind and educate themselves?

I have seen people with 4 months of riding experience take this class and DRASTICALLY improve their skills in a single day. I have also witnessed people that have ridden for over 30 years take this class and walk away shocked at the amount of improvement they were able to take away.

On a personal note, I took the class last Spring (2011) with the intent of becoming an instructor with Total Rider Tech. I thought "this will be a cake walk" because I was rolling in with 30 years of riding experience, a WERA expert in the 90s, and I had a few track schools under my wheels. Wow did I get a wake up call! I found that this class will step up and meet you at your skill level no matter what you think you know!

At the end of the day, you will walk away from these classes with an aftermarket brain modification that will give you an exponential performance mod, no pipe can do that! The knowledge and the practice drills you take away will become "skill improvement tools" that you can use for years to come, on any bike you ever own or ride.

Cornerspin is a road racing school that is taught in the dirt by a friend of mine. Aaron give a quick explanation here.

Ok question.....

For the ARC-1 class what is the required skill level for it?

My wife took the MSF last year(and did very well) and then had a mechanical failure (nothing she did) on my bike that made it high-side and break her leg in 6 places.

Since then she has ridden in parking lots but doesn't have confidence in herself,   do you think this class would be over her head or do you think it may help?

ARC-1 would be perfect for her. All drills are done in the parking lot in a very controled environment. Before each drill, there is class time that talks about exactly what is about to go on in the parking lot.

Pick up a copy of Total Control by Lee Parks for her, if you dont have it already. Reading that and backing it up with a class will give an amazing boost to the skills.

Honestly, I think it would be a huge confidence builder for her, as long as she has the basics down (clutch, gas brake...) she will learn a ton!

By the way, I met with Lee Parks in New York this weekend and he said he loves the East TN area and is going to look into personally doing one of our classes. Its not in stone but we may have the man himself teaching here in town this year!

Any takers here? I cant cancel the class at this point, this is some great education Im attempting to bring to the area. Every one seems to like the idea of having ongoing classes here but no sign ups so far. May turn out to be a really expensive play day in Foothills Mall parking lot for me....
