OKAY, so I'm finally getting the time to fix this 2nd gear issue I've had for about a year now.(no 2nd gear) I have finally cleaned out a room in my barn enough to fit the bike in and work on it. Put it up on stands yesterday. I will start dissassembling it this week.( this requires engine pulled and cases split to fix) More pics to follow if anybody really cares..... I may tear most of the bike down and replace all the wheel, swingarm, shock linkage and headstock bearings while I'm at it ......

I have decided to finish putting updated electric and water out to my barn this week. Which in turn will make working on the Gixx a more pleasant expierience. So, it prob won't get touched again until next week. SO, after work today I will be renting a trencher and buying up a mess of PVC conduit and water pipe. I already have the wire I need to run, so that was a major plus. Along with breaker box and all the breakers too.OH, and I ended up finding a 18,000btu air unit with heat also...brand new for $200 bux.... SO, now I've got summer AND winter work covered!!

Well,...... electric and water are not quite finished.  :angry

Went to go pick up the trencher Sat AM and THEN the idiot informs me that it's not really rented buy the weekend as was previously stated...."that was just figuratively speaking"....WTF?? You get to "keep" it for the whole weekend, but if you put more than 8 hrs on the hour meter you are charged for 2 days...go past 16 hrs and and get racked for 3 days.....It sure would be nice if there were some honest people left in this world doing business......This seems to go for all rental places. As I called 5 of them..and always the same "weekend rate" BS...then if you start asking more questions they finally come out with the true charges... what a crock o sh_t!!
SOOOO, my brother and I got on CL, and low and behold there was a ride on Ditch Witch right in Cleveland for sale. Guess what....we bought it....lol...dirt cheap too, as it needed a bearing on the digging shaft. And a couple of adjustments here and there...and voila...it was good to go.

So, I spent all day Sunday trenching for my electric upgrade and water out to the barn and garden.(3ft deep) And let me tell you... wire is friggin outrageous right now....WOOOOOO.... over $4/ft for UF-G 6/3 .... that hurt @ 300' of wire! But I will have good 50 amp 220v service out to my shop now. Along with water!!! And water out to my garden... we put in a 50x50 garden this year too.

I got the wire laid in and covered, then laid the water pipe in and buried the majority of it. I still have to terminate both ends of the wire and hook all the water connections up. I have a breaker box to install and a few circuits to run. It should all be done this week.

Then, on to the Gixx ..... :21

Thanks, the white Med duty GMC, we built that. It's made from 3 diff truck cabs. I welded it all together. It's all flanged,1/2" overlap and double welded seams. It was a 2dr. 24' box truck. We put the flatbed on it and built the headahe rack too ....

went home after work yesterday and got busy for a couple hours.... I've got it dissassembled to the point of about another hour of work and it's ready to come out. From where it is now, the header and oil cooler and oilpan have to come off. As does the valve cover breather assy. Then the oil pump pick up and oil filter. Then there is a flat glasstic cover I bolt onto it in place of the oil pan. Then unbolt the engine mounts, get the ATV jack under it and wiggle it out the right side of the frame. It has 1/4" clearance all the way around it at that point to wiggle it out.
Here is what it looks like now.....

Then you wiggle it out of the frame... then carry it over to the bench....Then start dissassembling it a piece at a time....alternator, starter cover, clutch cover, ignition cover, ignition plate and pick up/advancer, and clutch basket and drive gear.....

OH, and when you get older... don't forget to put EVERYTHING in a bag and label it !!! :groan

OH... I have found a few worn items during the dissassembly process too. SO, I think I am going to do a full teardown and replace all bearings (wheels, swingarm, headstock) and axles ect ..... make a new wire set, and install my Dyna mini-coils.....this thread could get real long and in depth ... hope y'all don't mind....
