There's a new GS in town .....
« on: June 12, 2012, 05:16:53 pm »
Well, I picked up a '79 GS 550 today.... All i can see it needs is a good carb cleaning!! :wahoo

I got it running 30 min after i got it home... It hasn't been on the road since 2006. Been in a climate controlled garage. I got it from the 2nd owner, he's had it since '89. Only 12,000 mi on it!! I picked it up in my VW minivan !!!LOL...

And it's in better overall shape than i had hoped for too. It was a major score... I bagged this ride for $350.00 plus a $50 tank of gas. Clean title, bill of sale and all.

Let the cafe project begin ....

If you're going to monoshock it make sure you weld in bracing for the frame. Or do a bandit rear swinger with shocks.

Yea, the only Co. left making them is 1 overseas and MAC. I found this on fleabay and figured I better pull the trigger on it quick. If them guys over on GSresourses saw it, it would have been history. I don't like MAC's, and I didn't want to wait almost a month to get the good one from over in the UK either. ... So,I opted for the Jardine.

Yesterday at UT hospital I seen a GS that parked behind me that looked exactly like yours but was an 850. It was very very clean!! Great looking bike. For a minute I thought you rode the new one up to see brad then realized it was an 850. Haha
