Pine-Sol uses.
« on: July 07, 2012, 05:55:06 pm »
After Curt turned me on to using Pine-Sol as a carb dip I tried it and was impressed. Besides getting the carbs clean I also noticed it removed surface rust from the screws which got me curious so I dipped a corner of a swingarm I'm restoring in it. Here's the results:

Before

After

How long was it in for? Just a dip or some length of time?

:21 Pine-sol is some killer stuff. Though I have learned that you can only use original Pine-sol. Not the other scents and not the generic either. Also if you go to home depot you can buy it by the gallon and it is the Commercial grade which is a little stronger.

DO NOT get the fake crap, or buy your Pine-Sol from Dollar General....It destroyed my carbs.... Get the good industrial stuff from Home Depot or Lowe's ....

I have figured out the Pine-Sol goof. I went to DG and got Pine-Sol. It was real Pine-Sol. It was the only REAL Pine_Sol they had. Hence, I thought it was normal Pine-Sol. But after a trip to Home Depot yesterday, I found the error....It was not "ORIGINAL" Pine-Sol. And I really didnt know the Diff. Since there was nothing else but DG brand pine cleaner to compare it to. SO, here is the Diff....Don't make the same mistake I did, as my carbs are now F'd ......The Top one is what you want, the bottom one is what I bought at DG not knowing the Diff ....DON'T BUY THE BOTTOM ONE !!!!!!!

I noticed the top one says "clorox commercial"  what's the chemical missing on the DG brand?

I see your problem Dale, Its clearly the labeling...

1 lists it as Limpia,  The 2nd picture says Limpio.   I suspect 1 of those 2 bottles is working illegally :34

So I'm gonna be a girl for a moment ;) if pine-sol will clean parts like that......hypothetically it should clean surgical steel type jewelry too right!?!

While I'm sure it would clean surgical steel,  I'm not sure I'd want it in my skin afterwards.

Both of the pine sol I bought were real pine sol... One was original and one was lemon scented . You ONLY want to use the ORIGINAL... Not the pretty sented ones. I put a rack of carbs in original pine sol last night and they look like new today!!!
