Since I have swapped my rear shock for aZX-6 shock, shouldn't I take my Z1000 spring and put it on the ZX6 shock? So far the ZX spring feels ok but isn't the Z shock rated for a heavier load?

dont, just have the suspension set up for you when you get the front done. my 06 z1000 had the 636 rear shock and was easily capable of the weight of the bike and me...

Getting it back together, sorta, having problems getting calipers/wheel lined up, I know forks are good, 03', calipers not sure what year, have 10mil bolt spacers so no problem there. I'm using Z wheel and those 280mm rotors, maybe they are ZX10?, anyway they are 1mm thinner and the calipers aren't scrubbing so bad (pads)? Now just trial and error adding washers I.e. fabricating correct wheel collar thickness to add to my Z collars,Zx collars are way too narrow, seems better to just add to the Z collar, gonna try 2 on each side (should be about 5 mil)  Donald I understand you had to do something similar with the wheel spacer issue?

Yeah. I actually took two washers from the top triple lock down nut and put on each side. Little pain to get the axle n but they work good.

you are using z1000 triples with the stock front wheel and rotors right?? confirm with curt but i believe he just used the stock z1000 spacers and that was it. also if you are using the z1000 rotors, they are 300mm, not 280.

donalds swap is not gonna do much good for you on the spacers, he swapped all the triples and everything.

I typoed the rotors wrong, both sets are 300, tell me this, if I use the z spacers alone there is some play, the wheel slides back and forth a little, didn't think that was normal, maybe an eigth

like i said, check with curt. he did his swap same as you with the z triples. it may be you have to use the 636 spacers. i cant remember 100% wich way it was....

Thanks for the help guys, I never done a fork swap before so it's a good learnign experience, I have the final part ordered now I think, 00-02 zx6 spacers, I think the fabricated ones I have will do the job but I will replace with the 02zx6 ones when I get them. However, the last couple days have been up and down or I would have been riding by now, hope to be by the 7th, my vaca. starts then and I dont have enough back tire for the mtns. right now anyway. continued on another thread (family health issues)

Sorry your having trouble. No sure why. Unless the 03-04 z's have a bit different triple clamp than the 05-06. Kind of odd. I just used the zx6 spacers on my setup. But now the front end I had was an 05-06 zx6 setup. So its possible the 03-04 zx6 is a bit different? I got your txt but been under the weather. I will try and give you a shout tomorrow.

I saw a pic of the 02 zx6 spacers, someone has used them on a swap just like mine, they are wider than my z spacers,I think the differences lie in the fork legs from 03-06 being different thickness along with wheel hub differences maybe, either way it's just a matter of time for me, can't ride too hard anyway til I get new back tire

Update--re-installed my axle spacers with added pair washers, along with my Z rotors, my left caliper has a little drag due to a slightly off square cut of the caliper spacer, easy fix. Now to add brake lines, things are looking up

More progress reservoir placed tomorrow will fill/bleed brakes. did the best I could do with bare minimum length lines, got these carbolines with the fork purchase so I'm using them may get longer dual s/s lines later on. Hope to test drive tomorrow night, (fingers crossed)
