i took the class 3 yrs. ago and would highly recommend it, it is a 2 day class and costs 250.00 but you don`t have to go to the dmv and take the test you bring the voucher once you complete the class. :21

I did the course back in November. It was great. I was lucky and had great instructors and a small class... Even met the founder's grandson. ;D He is going to be a riding coach this year as well.

I'm going to take it in a few months here, do you still have to take at least the written test at the DMV?

Took Beginners in 2001 (after 35 years of not riding).

Took Experieced Rider Twice since then. The first experieced had a good manual (technical explanation of counter steer, balance of gravity forces and centrifugal forces when in curve lean, and affects of weigh shift on CG). They quit teaching that when I took the second Experienced for more field time and discussion after drills.

Took Advanced Rider Class this spring. Rider friend was teaching and offered to teach it for free (no pay for him), so it cost us only $75 or was it $50.

Mostly. all is a lot of the same - but makes one THINK AGAIN.

Those courses are great no matter the skill level. There is some that will help even the most seasoned rider by revisiting the basics. :21 Anytime you get a change to go to a rider education class do it! Well worth it.

the only written test was in the MSF course on day two. The answers are in your book. It's easy :) I can't wait to get back there and take an experienced rider class... that will be next summer though after the kids quit having medical nightmares :7 :3

the MSF course is only $225 for the beginners class, they provide bikes and helmets, all you need is proper gear like full finger gloves, pants, jacket or long sleeve shirt, and boots.  it gives you the waiver for you M endorsement, no more tests lol.

the advanced course is $95 and you have to bring everything.

Taking the beginners course Sept. 24-25 at Pellissippi State in Hardin Valley if any of y'all wanna take it with me.

BTW First Post here ha!  ^^

Ive been riding for 8 years now, GF wanted to start riding so I took the class with her.  I learned a lot and had a blast.  Of course it rained on us, but still had a ball.  You will learn new stuff, or find stuff you've been cutting corners on.  Plus it knocked a few bucks off my insurance.  so in like 20 years, it will pay for itself. ;D

It has gone up in price -- I do not remember exactly what I paid in 2001 for the beginner course, but at the time I was in Honda Club (I think membership first year was automatic with new bike purchase) and was reimbursed for nearly all the cost.

I have since taken two Experienced Rider Courses and one Advanced Riders Course (recent one on the advanced - this spring).
