43 flathead
« on: December 07, 2012, 12:35:08 am »
funny thing about this model . u.s. army wanted a 500 cc bike for the war . indian made a 500 cc & it was rejected . hd turned in the 45 ci / 750cc & got the contract . indain already had the 750 scout & it was a way better bike than the hd 45 . hd did try to make a 500 cc boxer . like a bmw & could not make it work . so they just turned in the 45 & got the contract . indian never really got over it . before ww11 indian was no. 1 .has anybody in etb ever rode a flat head bike    / not counting a 2 banger . i have 45 hand shift  foot clutch  , 3 speed . i was 14 at the time . an old guy let me ride it thru the cheapeke bay bridge tunnel . changed my life . i am 59 now & can still hear that old flathead in my head when i think about it . i would bet that old hog didn't have 20 hp , but at 14 , it was a spaceship to me .
if you are gonna go,go old school.

:lol I can remember a coule old bike I had that were gutless. But t that time were fast! Or so I thought. Haha. Crazy how things change even in just a short amount of time. I personally haven't had the chamce to ride one. And have never owned a harley. About the only make I haven't owned. Not that I would be opposed to it. But there are never in the price range when I am looking.

I had a Harley K model.  It was a Flathead motor with a Sportster bottom end.  Harley won the 1962 Daytona race with a K !
