2005 Honda Shadow Street Bobber Project Pic Heavy
« on: December 10, 2012, 12:11:26 am »
So a few weeks ago I bought a 01 sv 650 off craigslist for $800 cleaned it up painted it put it on cl and some guy wanted to trade this 05 shadow 600 vlx with 9k miles for it ... So.... of course I picked up this little trade and have always wanted a "bobber" and I HATE white on chrome so i figured with these warm temps take advantage of being in the garage. The bike was all stock when Steven Paul and I started messing with it, I threw the old handlebars away and had some custom made out of steel toobing measured and fabricated by hand at the welding shop here in pigeon forge in front high school for a steal $45 bc i told him id pass the word along that he can make them any at any measurement u want and weld Anything u need also I wanted to Lower the rear end, remove clunker signals, paint the wheels and mostly all the chrome black and put a few custom touches in the process Im going for a the Bobber look and trying to staying legal at the same time and can carry a passenger if need be. Check out the pics and comment if ya like good or bad the first pic below is the bike the day we traded and from taking it down and painting and putting back together. In the future I Might just cut the rear off and solo seat it and side mount the brake light so im looking to buy any of those if anyone has anything layn around. Thanks for reading and ride Safe
PS..... if anyone has a skull cap helmet forsale or some nice mirrors bar end or reg that will work im look for some! Thanks

I think you done a great job! dont know if I like the star on the airbox cover, and I would have bobbed the rear fender like you wanted to, it just looks too long without the rear seat on there.  I really do like the black you put on it though.

yeah i would much rather just cut whole frame off after the seat ans solo springer seat it but if so its a solo rider forever and if i wanna part with it im sure a hard sell too. Thanks for the feedback guys hopefully this spring ill be out riding with the group new to forum and wanna meet everyone! :21

NICE NICE NICE  --  :21

I had a VLX 600 for my third bike (first bike when I started riding again in 2001 after not riding for 35 years). Nice little machine for local cruising and not too bad on Interstate (Buzzy, but OK at 70MPH). I think top speed )actual) about 90mph. .

I put 71000 miles on it and sold it cheap ($1200) with a couple minor blemishes in Feb 2006.

it was simply a popularity contest....although the PJD bike had a good look, but you are folded up like a taco sitting on it...

Man nice job. Those Handle bars are sick.  I am still on the fence about them though.  How do they handle?
