Helmet
« on: March 07, 2013, 02:23:03 am »
I bought a half shell helmet off of a work friend the other day ($10).... thought about sanding it down and trying to do a rattle can job on it..

gonna use Krylon Fusion flat black.. just a little experiment.. I want to try and do a rattle can job on my bike.. that was a winter project... damn you JTEKT and your 7 day work week... or as my techs like to call it Slave-TEKT

Something to consider....some paint can react with materials used in the shell construction and actually act as a solvent, compromising structural inegrity/energy absorption. Also when sanding you are removing shell material...I know it seems like just dust, but when you are talking about a thickness measured in mils, a little can be a lot. Check the composition of your helmet and ensure you are using a paint with a formula safe for use on it.
