Its all mental. You freak your self out. You have to find something that will keep you focused on getting out of the situation and not the spot you could hit. If that makes sense.

Pretty much what Donald said. But in many cases its combined with really not doing anything. If that makes sense.

Try "proficient motorcycling".

SR's are the reason Believe is in the slogan 3 Bs. Body. Brake n Believe.

Its gonna be time for u to do a beginners trackday soon. I highly reccomend the instructors @ STT.

also a good place to inquire is Marietta Motorsports near Atlanta.  Its a sales n service shop that regularly does private trackdays and they welcome first timers.  They say its not a trackday but a bunch of friends who rented a track for a day...

Everytime I think of doing one something financially screws me out of it..

There is hardly anything I carried from the street to the track... I learned a whole new style of riding there... It is great to be able to relax and not worry about cars, debris, and cops. My first track day was in Nov of 2011.... The weather was PERFECT. Careful on summer track days... The heat is rough and the track can get greasy as the day goes on.

good rule of thumb, drink one bottle of water per hour, or more.  If your not going to the bathroom yoour not drinking enough..  If your not hungry your gettting heat exhaustion, drink more water.  Force yourself to drink more WATER..

as bama said about hot days n greasy track, +2-3 psi can help alot if your tires start to get greasy from over heating..

Any reads you would recommend?

Read Total Control by Lee Parks, then sign up for the class, there are some close to you.

I know because I teach them!

Is the small girl you see on the motard in this pic?

If she is, she has a place up there, she was in my Robbinsville class back in 2008

Just kinda reading thru this. As jojo will attest to this. It helped her a ton...

#1.  Ride one handed. Foothills is perfect so long as your not thrashing. Ride ofcourse with your right hand on the throttle and on the simple straights, turn and look over your left shoulder.  Move at the waist tho. Unknowingly you will move your butt off the set and you will not upset the bike. On downhills use your other hand on the other clipon and do the same.  You will learn a ton.

#2.  Ride one handed a lot. Ride all the way across the prkway one handed. But not at warp speed. The confidence you get is tremendous.

#3.  AND THIS IS ONCE YOU GET REAL COMFORTABLE.  WE DID THIS AT EVERY RACE BECAUSE I WAS A BIGGER BOY AND COULDNT MOVE AS SWIFT AS SOME.  Armourall your seat. Let dry then powder to make it slick as hell.  It will help you get from side to side.  PLEASE NOTE IT WILL BE SLICK AND YOU HAVE TO BECAREFUL WITH THAT.
