Ape Hangers?
« on: July 10, 2013, 08:29:48 pm »
I'm not planning on putting them on my bike. But, I have rode bikes with them. And, they are surprisingly comfortable. Just wondering what others think of them.

That wasn't to be offensive. I just Dnt see how anyone could be comfortable with them. Cruisers usually complain about sport bikes cause there backs to hurt. That seems to me to be a shoulder issue after a few minutes

That's about what I thought too. But, as I said I have took a ride on one and it was far more comfortable than it looks.  :34

I didn't take a long ride on one thus far. But, on a short ride it isn't a problem. I would worry about hand pain on a long ride more than anything else I guess.

That's the thing though. You aren't holding your arms up. You just hang on to the grips and kind of relax your arms.

I guess it would be different for me since I ride a sport bike. You Dont hold on the bars. You kinda just sit you hands on them.

I think I would have to agree with that. I don't think I could want them full time wither

Maybe for a show bike or something but not a full time rider.

I haven't rode with them but most states regulations say not above your shoulders. Most don't have them that high that actually ride much.

I wish my bars were a couple inches higher. But, shoulder level would be more than I want.

i have found that even 1 in. rizers can make a world of difference. as for ape hangers , i like them , but that's mostly because i am so short . i lay them back more than most people .8 to  12 inch pull back 6 bends are a happy medium for most people. but i think the 6 bends are a thing of the past. i been looking for a year + for some 18 in for the tryke. i put 18 in. on the tryke but they are just ape hangers , about 30 something in. wide. i think 34 in . 6 bends are about 24 to 28 in. wide & the grips will be almost up & down . keep in mind i am talking old school tech here. somebody needs to make a completely adjustable h-bar so people could get measured right.
if you are gonna go,go old school.

I raised them about 3" already. But it being the chopper model it had short T bars to begin with. So it is about where a R or S model start out.

You have to make brackets now to go further or just have to get yourself to do it. I have been contemplating moving mine up from the low position that they are at but my set up is a lit different from your cruiser.lol

I would assume no since I have seen so many looking like they hold the bars and there arse is off the seat.

That's still a funny mental image. I saw a guy on a bike like that. Had the fish tail exhaust and was only about 2" off the ground.  :34
