newer bike input
« on: August 14, 2013, 06:49:37 am »
i have been looking at a vstar and and vulcan 650 to 1000 cc. do they have plenty of pull power for just solo rider. i realy don't need a big horsepower bike , just some pickup power.  i have not ridden any of these. the price range on big bores are out of my pocket range.  just to cruise. i probably opened a big can of worms. i just sold my other two bike.

quick google search says 72 hp.  I would assume TQ would be 40-50lb range.  plenty of get up n go just dont expect to race and sports cars w/ V8s...

How much are you looking to spend? How tall are you, weight? Ever going to have a passenger? The 650 vstars are nice. Also look at the hondas: shadow, ace, or sabre. They are 750 I believe. Ive had a couple vulcans as well. 750, 800 and 2 1500s. The 800s would be good as well. Really you cant go wrong in that cc range. Just find the 1 that fits you the best and already has the upgrades you want (windshield, exhaust, blah blah). And keep us in the loop  :n21

3300 (or less) will getcha about any mid size older (early 2000s) cruiser my friend. Id just about sell my vmax for that lol. Whats your time frame for wanting one? Immediately? Reason I ask is we have; what, 2 months of good weather, unless youre going to be a year round rider, prices will drop as temperatures drop as well.

I just recently picked up a '04 VTX 1300 for 3800.....13K miles and several nice addons to it plus it is in showroom condition. They are definitely out there. I've got a Vulcan 800 that ill probably sell for $13-1400. Has about 30k miles on it....great bike, fun bike and Im trying like heck to justify keeping it  ;D
