Great find Marc!

That's very interesting.  It's not to hard to figure out the market those are aimed at.  Japan is a huge H-D market and these seem aimed primarily at the Asian market in general.  I would expect a 400cc version for the Japanese where that displacement is a big step in the licensing and insurance rules, thereby opening up H-D to a much larger group of potential customers.  If you notice, the models in the photos appear Asian.  The bikes are also made in India.  The real challenge is whether these will be perceived as "real" Harleys by the potential customers.

90% of Harleys are still on the road. The other 10% actually made it home.    :34

Actually it should be changed from "made in america" to "assembled in america." With a global economy the way it is, even if they say the engine is "made in america", is it really? Where do ya get the valves/pistons from, etc.....

I am not a harley basher/fan boy. As long as youre courteous to me on the road, ill be nice back. Its all the jackwagons who think cause their machine cost 3x as much that they are entitled to 3x as much everywhere else. It dont work like that Jr!

I your right on the asian market thing but I also think they realize that the hardheads aren't going to be around forever and the emissions regs are just too hard to meet with air cooling. They downplayed the changes to 2 of their top of the line models the water cooling and just did the heads on them. This is full a full on change for them aside from the Vrod.I think with the U.S. market they are trying to get new riders to look at them, buy them and get them used to riding Harley and then they have plenty of bigger bikes for them to move up to.Those people won't care if the new bike they are trading up for isn't an old school air cooled pushrod Harley. They will be looking for bang for the buck.If the timing is right on this it might be what saves their ass in years to come.

Harley announced today, these bikes are NOT animal friendly.  The leaking antifreeze is hazardous to animals of all sorts.

That's true of all antifreeze except the expensive special stuff and it won't work in a lot of vehicles.

Edit: Just got the leak reference. Slow tonight apparently.

Just saw this on FB today- was about to post about it but was too slow on the draw lol. Personally I have always had a dislike for HD (Not trying to bash here, just my $0.02) due to their "image" and dated tech, but I'll be honest... I'm kinda liking this bike. I don't know if I'd ever buy one, but I'd like to take it for a spin.
SADDLY on... cycleworld I think it was...? They called it "A great entry level Harley." I'm kind of disappointed in them for saying that, because people will now perceive it that way (If they haven't already) and also because this bike could have proved that you can own a nimble, light, smaller displacement Harley, and still be just as much of a "True motorcyclist". Guess we'll just have to wait and see.  :beg

Harley realizes that for them to survive they have to attract new riders and stop reliing on their old standb customers and just being a "high end"/prestige company. The attitude is what I don't like either and paying twice for a comparable bike.

I clicked the Street Video  -- Looks like a typical Harley Ride (at least perceivd as typical)::: Around the block, stop at the Local Hangout (or Bar), BS a little, then down the street (town ride) to show off a bit, add in an alley or two for a little backroad adventure, and head home. COOL -- Ride it man.  :happypep :happyrider :groan

That said (the video did impress me that way), I kind of like it myself and ride with some darn good riders that amaze me on those big model Harley's on the curves.

I got to see the 500cc version of one of these "in the flesh" at Smoky Mtn H-D while I was visiting Ian at his new job this summer.  I have to say I was impressed by the bike and thought it was a good looking little scoot except for the matte finish black paint job.  It also looked to me that there was the foundation of a really different and cool "mini-Vincent" café racer there.  I was hoping to actually see one on the street but didn't.  I also was hoping to see the 750cc version to see if it was any different.

My wife, a rider herself, thought it was a great looking bike and loved how it fit a smaller rider.

So, bottom line, based on just looks alone, I liked it.

By all means stop by Smoky Mtn. for lunch and check one out.  After all, how many dealerships also have a BBQ joint on site?
