Throttle issue
« on: November 30, 2013, 06:48:11 pm »
Have a big problem. Thought it was water in my tank until today. Last week I had the pleasure of riding in the rain for three days. Yay! Since the last day every time I go to hit the throttle it almost shuts down. if I barely roll on it she goes. I hooked my pc to the power commander and it doesn't recognize throttle position at all. Reset the position on the pc3 still nothing. I can slightly rev it then floor it and she will go but other than that it will fall on its face. starting to get scary especially if I hit it to hard on a turn and she jerks like Im running out of gas. Is it the throttle position sensor or am I looking st the pc3 being bad. Remember by throttle bodies are off a 05zx10 and the position wires had to switched to run that sensor.

I've messed with the wires trying to see if I have a short and if I move real hard to the point of grabbing the sensor and trying to force it to move ill get a 1-2% but that's it. And that's with the throttle closed or open

Not that I know anything about your bike but you might try doing some simple continuity tests on the wires from the end of the connector to the next harness connector or at least past where the splices are. That would help if there was a weird connector problem or breakage of wires. The good ol wriggle test is never a bad idea.Once had a machine I narrowed down to one wire and couldn't find the problem. Finally found I could pull one particular wire coming out of a delay box with needle nose pliers so I didn't disturb any others. It sucked and took like 8 hrs to do.

I'm sure the connectors on your bike are higher quality than alot of what i've worked with but elbow grease is cheaper than parts when its yours.

Forgot to add, the crc electronics cleaner will get rid of any water in the wires or around the ECM and PC that can be playing tricks with you.

Read the code and it was an 11 which is tps. Open or short circuit. Used them amo meter and had nothing. Little water in connection, cleaned it out but sensor was fried. Luckily was able to use the one off my factory throttle bodies. Don't hit the right amps by a couple points but with it reset through the pc3 she seems fine. Will see what happens in a few days. May have to buy one.  Seems evwrything around me is breaking now. Dads ford front caliper has been locked and you couldn't tell unroll today when the metallic part of the pad came off and I'm now metal to metal. Fml there's a 150 more out of pocket for a complete brake job. Just glad I can do the work myself
