2014 AMA Pro Roadracing schedule
« on: January 12, 2014, 10:38:39 pm »
AMA released this years schedule.....and no, it is not a partial list....or a list of events east of the Mississippi!

WOW, what a disappointment! You can count on one hand how many events will be put on....wonder how many will not be televised?

The 2014 AMA Pro Road Racing schedule is as follows:
1. March 13 - 15 - Daytona International Speedway, Daytona Beach, Fla.
2. May 30 - June 1 - Road America, Elkhart Lake, Wis.
3. June 21 - 22 - Barber Motorsports Park, Birmingham, Ala.*
4. July 19 - 20 - Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, Lexington, Ohio*
5. September 13 - 14 - New Jersey Motorsports Park, Millville, N.J.*
* - These events will feature the two-day event schedule

Darn - Looks like the only one I'll be in the US for is Mid-Ohio.

And you're right, that's a pretty abbreviated race schedule.  And isn't it odd that there won't be any races in California, Texas, or New England, formerly the epicenters of American Road Racing!  Only two races in the Mid West, two in the South, and one in the Mid Atlantic.

That schedule, in a nutshell, demonstrates why American riders will be a steadily declining presence on the race grids in MotoGP.  We don't have anything like the "farm system" Europeans do to train and develop young racers.  Spain and Italy especially are good at that, as a brief glance at any MotoGP race programme will prove.
