same issue with cars . moderate heat . tap on housing around pin. if you are not worried about  marks from hammer. you can always sand hammer marks and paint caliper. sucks it aluminum.

I've got a heat gun if you need to borrow it. Be a little easier on the paint than a torch.

I'm not too concerned with the paint. It's the seals if Iover do it that concern me.

be sure to apply high temp bearing grease when you put it back together..

Some steel and aluminum just don't like to weather together..

good luck..

If it will move at all just keep working it back n forth, don't force it if possible..  generous amouts of lube or rust remover to help break up the oxidation..

It won't budge... I guess I'll let it soak a bit longer. And, if need be heat it.

or my favorite persuader a air hammer....   on low pressure usually frees up rusty shafts on mowers, wheels, pulleys...

You can seat an Allen wrench pretty damn well with a ten pound hammer.  :31

The bolt you put through the caliper came out fine. It's the one that screws into the mount that you slide the caliper onto that is froze. Frankly I considered drilling a small hole to gain access to the head of it.

You could do that, then tap it and plug a small bolt/screw into it in case it happens again.

The bolt/screw would not only keep weather out but reinforce the weak point in the casing caused by drilling it.

But hey, what do I know, I'm just an ignorant hillbilly.

That's kinda what I was thinking too.

Well I put penetrating oil on it several times over the last week or so with no success. So I heated it also with no success. I decided to drill a hole and use an Allen wrench to twist the pin loose. I bolted the bracket back to the bike since I don't have a vise. Guess what happened...I broke pin end off the bracket. So I guess I gotta find a new bracket, pin, and might as well get the caliper too since I've yet to budge it.  :banghead
