And what's really crazy is that it's now too valuable to ride.  Much like having a valuable collector firearm, you'd destroy much of it's collector value by actually using it.

Almost $37K for a bike for your den. (and it's not even in the best colour scheme...Blue & White!)  :21

No, I think maybe I didn't explain adequately.  What makes this particular RG500 so valuable is that it's new...only 30 miles on the clock.   Sure, you could ride it, and it would be a lot of fun having a brand new RG500.  (Niggling questions about whether the crank seals are still any good aside.)  But, as soon as you do that...it's no longer a new RG500.  As you put on miles its value would quickly drop to the going rate for used RG500's in really good shape which is about $12-$15 thousand.  So yeah, if money is no object, it could be ridden, but it's collector value would drop.

A collector like Leno, if he wanted a RG500 to ride wouldn't go for this bike.  He'd pick up an excellent example with 10-12 thousand miles on it and pay less than half what this one went for.  On the other hand, if you wanted one for a museum or collection, then this one would be great since it's 100% original.
