Usually standard, but have and like the highway pegs, never seen forward controls on a goldwing.

I had standard pegs on my old Shovelhead.  My preference is for pegs that I can stand on as needed and I haven't run into a forward peg mount that I could do that as easily as with standard pegs.  Being able easily get your weight up off the seat is helpful in controlling the bike, as when encountering a sudden road obstacle or crossing an irregularity like a pot hole or railroad tracks.

Just my .02 and probably not worth that much.

On the Honda Shadow Aero 750 I replaced the pegs with floorboards.  My Valkyrie has standard pegs and I added Hwy. pegs.  Utilize both on long hauls.  A slight shift in the pelvis adds to comfort and it lets me stretch these old knees when I want to.  By the end of a 650 mile day I've shifted positions several times.  Will start shifting again Tuesday for AR ride.  Got back from N.O. last Friday afternoon.  That is a door to door 636 plus a little side trip made it 656.  I'm looking into installing a Lazy Boy next.

Most quality floorboard kits include a heel/toe shifter.

No. Although you'll find a heel/toe shifter with most floorboard set ups, I usually use the toe shifter. Just a habit for me, although my Roadstar does have a heel/toe shifter.

ride a bike with the floor boards before you change yours, junior.

always thought i would like boards, but i do not!

not comfortable and make a terrible sound when you drag them.

the sparks are pretty cool though.

I like covering my rear brake with my foot. I could not do that when I road with floorboards. It was slow and awkward to use the rear brake with floorboards.
