« on: October 19, 2015, 01:49:50 am »
I picked up a copy of Roadracing World at the BX yesterday and while reading it this morning noticed this rather odd news item:

That's funny!

I remember the first time I had to take a MC test was in California in '72 when I bought my '72 Kaw F8. The "slow ride" section was a bear to get through without dabbing your foot. Felt like I needed to the a Trials rider to complete it!

Never needed an MC endorsement before that in NC or TX.

My test to get a motorcycle endorsement was a complete joke.  It was in Hampton, Virginia, also in 1972, and consisted of riding up and down the lanes of the DMV parking lot a couple of times while the examiner watched.  I guess if you didn't fall down and kinda looked like you knew what you were doing you were good to go.

Oddly enough, that was the only time I've ever had to test for a license.  Every other time I've gotten a license they've either accepted my existing license or taken my MSF Instructor card in lieu of a test.

In Columbus, MS the riding test involved one lap around their rectangular building. That's it. They were particular about going clock-wise for some reason though.

There was an old bank building across the street from the test center in Dayton. They told me to go across the street and circle the and just show them I could control it.When I got mt regular license the rode rode with me but we just circled to block.
