March 1980 comparo between CBX and GS1100
« on: December 12, 2015, 11:56:07 am »
Stumbled upon this fun article from March 1980 (this mag may have been sitting in the hospital room when I was born in April) in Motorcyclist. It's a show-down between the then couple year old Honda CBX and the new Suzuki GS1100.

Having ridden both bikes I pretty much agree with the article.  The CBX has one of the most exciting motors in motorcycling in a bike with pretty iffy handling.  The Suzuki is heavy but has pretty predicable handling with a torque rich engine with anvil like reliability.

But hey, I didn't buy either of them in 1980.

I bought one of these:

I would love to have an old cbx

The old zukis are okay, but ive seen that oil light issue on a few even with my limited experience with them.

Always just figured that was how they were.

Oils full? Its good.
What does "riding season" mean?
