Coming soon to a curve near you.
« on: June 17, 2011, 09:09:52 am »
My new to me Fixxer Uppper, Should be picking it up in 2 weeks. Got a great Deal on it I think. It needs some TLC..  Plastics, Gas tank, Front wheel, and a few other little things.   Seems Im gonna have to start stocking 190 size tires too :(

Already sourced a spare set of wheels, Front and Rear with rotors and Cush drive/carrier for $175

Im on the prowl for a Gas tank.  Small dents are fine just no major damage as the current one has had some extensive repairs :(

This should be fun compared to my VFR  :21

Still gonna keep the VFR for those days I just want to meander around...

As for the Gas tank, 2000-01 929RR..
From the info I have found so far there are no alternatives :(  Maybe a 954RR but the mounts are different :(
Still searching google and Fireblades.org for info.

Seems extra wheels are a sinch,  Any CBR900 - 1000rr from 1997 to 2007-8
Even ran across a VFR SSSA conversion. but That may come later LOL..

Ins is gonna be $97 a yr, As soon as I can get to the DMV to get tags n title done..

Next is the Brakes, The entire Rear Brake SYSTEM was removed so I have to reinstall it.
The Front Brakes need some Major LOVIN. Takes 3/4 pull just to stop at a stop sign.

Have to order some kind of rearview mirror, Previous owner had a VERY VERY small 1" x 2" taped to the bar end.

Left rear turn signal is out.

Then it will pass a NC inspection..

Well went to the DMV this AM, Other than the $120 I had to pay them just so I could lean over the counter for a better veiw of the Cute ladies Cleavage it went really smooth.

Tags n Ins today, Hopefully Im home by Fri morning and can start on the Brakes.

Anyone got any sugestions for a nice rearview mirror, One that is either easily removed or wont be a pain with using my Canyon Dancer when I tie it down on the trailer..
Something that goes on the end of the Clipon.  Been hoping to find one that velcros on or similar but no luck..

alot of bar ends now come with or have adapters available to fit them to open ended bars. when  i get my clip ons ill have to use those adapters, sadly though my right side mirror is vibrating off the mount itself so i'll have to buy another set soon.

are you gonna actually need the mirror to work properly, or just for the legality of it? if its just for the legal aspect the one that velcros to the left grip, i found at walmart.

Well they are good for when you hear a siren behind you right ?

I will look into that..  My tiedown wraps over the bar ends/grips is why im looking for a easily removable one..

As soon as I have new tires put on it. 1 trip to the gap and I wore out what was left from the previous owner.  Really tight on $$$ right now. Im gonna have MikeE put 90 degree stems on the rims when I put tires on. There $30 a set plus the $20 for him to mount n balance them..

In due time..

This is pretty much all I have right now, My one trip to the hilll on it all the other photogs neglected to post the pictures due to all the US129Photos.com Stickers all over it. There was a brief discussion on Facebook about that where one of said photogs made a statement saying that the photos shot v/s photos bought was 400-0. Boy was he incorrect :34

This is the only one I have right now, Unlike some I dont and wont bootleg the proof pics from there sites, Sorry guys dont mean to sound like a Arse but everytime I see one of those "Proof" pictures I think about deleting them.  Thats a discussion for another day..

The VFR is in the forground, 929RR in the back ground, I pulled alll the toys out to wash them awhile back..  Its still a hell of a deal for the 929RR. Gotta be patient..

Slow,
It's not really a top priority right now. That may change once I get new tires on it and the pipe silenced a bit.
So far.
Spare rims.
new grips.
pazzo levers
bar end mirror.
Tag lights
flushed brakes but still a little soft.
Susect warped rotor or wheel , part of reason for spare set.
ebc hh front pads
reinstall rear brakes (completely removed by previous owner

Peg risers (loaned out to friend so can be copied)

as funds become available.
Dash, no needle for tach.
Gas Tank.
braided brake lines.
upper stay
rebuild/refresh front/rear susp
race plastics and trailtech HID lights
................................................

clutch lever nuetral safety swith , fix or bypass completely
power commmander and tune, Previous owner mentioned hotter cams were installed, Bike seems to have no power and must ride clutch when taking off from stop. This is not an issue when bike is cold.

Might repaint (rattle can) some bright color just to be cool like Drop :34

with the peg risers the rear brake line is too short, Rear brakes really arent needed unless your offroading it. Rarely do I ever use the rears on the VFR.

Engine braking at high rpms has same effect and will make the rear slide in a more controllable manner. I see no need for rear brakes except during ooh **** moments and dirt/gravel roads.

Its all in your own style and type of bike that dictates what percentage of front/rear works best for you..

My current gas tank underwent extensive repair by the previous owner, Dent puller and epoxy sealer.

Take a look at this one and tell what you think about the RAsH. Otherwise I like the $..
