ETB Lunch-plink-ride @ Chris's house 25 Mar
« on: March 07, 2017, 04:27:13 pm »
In January Paul designed an ETB ride that morphed into a ride and stop at my place outside Maryville for lunch and a casual plinking session.  I had a great time visiting with ETB friends Paul, Marc and Ian and decided that it was time for another such an event.  So. mark your calendars for Saturday, the 25th of March and plan to stop by for an afternoon of food, .22s, socialization and a short ride loop.  Any ETBer who'd like to show up is welcome.  If you'd like to do the plinking but skip the ride loop or vice versa that's fine.

Food and drink provided.  Your help in depleting my surplus of .22 ammo is welcome.  Adult beverages available after riding and shooting events have completed.

To attend please send me a PM and I'll send you my address.  In the event of bad weather the rain date is the following Saturday, 1 April.  No fooling.

It has been a long time since I passed up FREE Food and a Place to Shoot.  :21

COUNT ME as THERE.  :pop :beg

I can (and will) do a ride before if anyone wants to meet up, welcome to join up.  :happypep

It will be Daylight Saving Time, so stays darker later in AM than now. Reckon should be ready to leave my house and meet up at McD at say 9:20AM depart (McD at Seymour Intersection of Hwy 338 / 441 / 411 where 411 turns off east to Maryville).   We could ride 3 or 4 hours before reaching Chris's on some good back roads.

Secondary Meetup for those west of Seymour that don't want to ride here for a meetup.  Can meet up along the route if anyone is interested (route would be between Seymour and Hwy 363 - Six Mile Rd which Six Mile rd is near Chris's). Would have to work a second meet place once I know who wants to meet and where they live.

Did Chris set a time to arrive at his house? Better check his post again.

I doubt I will want to do a ride after Lnnch & Shooting other than a ride back home.

I knew this thing was here somewhere.Never more than held a pistol so when I get to do one these events again I found something to help with your excess 22 problem. If you want to take time to help the inexperienced learn. http://eaacorp.com/guns/handguns/bounty-hunter-weihrauch-113

Best learning you can do in advance (may need snap caps unless it is OK to Dry Fire without Snap Caps) is to practice trigger pull and watch the muzzle.

Hopefully, NO Movement of the muzzle when you pull the trigger.  :beg

One video I saw (instructor with something like 6 championships) said he starts new shooters out just pulling trigger (had their hands up against their belly holding gun in normal grip and just pulling trigger -- dry fire). Decided if you can dry fire that gun or need snap caps.

MFG of my 9MM (center fire) says need snap caps and do not repeatably dry fire with out them. Yet Ruger says my 22 (rimfire) can be dry fired. Most folks say don't dry fire a rim fire, but can dry fire a center fire.

Other thing you can do is raise to shooting position and point at target -- (then look at the sights amazing how it comes up near target by just pointing). Do it at close range target to start with. Can add dry fire to that drill and watch muzzle movement (trigger pull).

Not that I can shoot -- but been reading a lot. Do As I Say - Not As I do Kind of Stuff.  :groan

I have several .22 handguns you can try as well as others up to .44Mag.  I recommend the .22 as a better learning tool.  The one you found would be great.

The basics are straightforward and simple.   After that...practice makes perfect.  Once you master the .22 you'll be able to hit with anything you pick up.

HMMMM Based on my results with the 9MM, reckon I have not mastered the 22.  :groan

Do pretty good with the CO2 BB Pistol.

I noticed after I posted it takes magnum loads but I will play with it some when time allows. Bummer though.

Just a quick reminder of the Lunch-Ride-Plink session at my place Saturday.  All ETBr's are welcome.  Show up at noon and stay as long as the ammunition, food, and drinks hold out.  Nothing fancy in the food department but Paul likes my chili.

If you want to come please send me a PM and I'll send my address and directions on how to get here.

Right now it looks like we'll have good weather for the event and so far three folks have said they're coming.  More would be more better!

Chris

Thanks for reminder as I almost forgot about it with everything else going on. My Sister and B-in-Law are coming Monday night (camp in drive way MON and TUE) then heading to NC for our G-Daughters wedding. Betty and I will also go to the wedding later.

Not that any of that interferes with SAT, MAR 25, but with all the planning, etc. I might have forgot if I did not look at my calendar.  :groan

I'm gonna be there if creeks don't rise.   :happypep

Can bring something --- chips or ??  Do you really have that much 22 that you want to shoot up at $& to $10 a hundred rounds, I would not want folks shooting mine up.

I had plans to bring my own, but if you want to shoot your (I would oblige).  :)

I had planned on meeting you.

Probably just you and me --- maybe Jackie (have not discussed with him so don't know if he is going or not). He and I are riding today to KY -- will ask him about SAT.

Not sure it is worth you coming all the way to Seymour -- but love to have you along.
Might be some roads we have ridden before between here and your Dad's place, I will spend some time thinking about some you have not done (if I can remember).   ::)

Keep in touch about your plans thru FRI eve - OK?

OK...stocked up on food and drinks, ammo and targets...and so far have 2 bikes back on the road.   I even picked up a few bottles of the best beer in the world which I might even share.  (after the shooting stops of course...)

I think I'm ready...come on over!
