Tunnels are fun!
« on: April 19, 2017, 01:04:42 pm »
I bet I'm not the only guy here that winds it on and makes some noise when I'm in a tunnel!

Paul,

You're just a lot more responsible than the rest of us!  No loud exhaust noises and you even beep the horn to warn that you're in the tunnel! :21

Ian and I were riding through Smoky Mtns Nat Park the other day and I couldn't help but notice while going through the tunnels there was a noisy Triumph being revved up behind me.  How noisy?  I had to check the tach to make sure my BMW was still running...

Surely you would know the difference between a Harley and a Triumph. However, I ask to make sure -- do ya?

Only noisy MCs that really annoisyes me is a Harley with pipes and nearly all of them do have pipes.

The Triumph 3 cylinder bikes have a fairly distinctive exhaust note...as do Harleys.  I like a meaty exhaust note so stock pipes are a bit on the quiet side for me, but I do like some sort of muffler cutting down on the racket.  Straight pipes are way too raucous.

Or, as I remember hearing in past,  “The louder the pipe, the smaller the pecker.”

I like them too, especially the long lit ones.  But my exhaust isn't loud so all I hear is the engine and gear whine.  Of course, I've never gotten off my bike and followed to hear how it sounds.  Need roller blades for that trick.

I'll gladly volunteer to blast through tunnels on others bikes so they can appreciate the full symphony of sounds their motorcycle produces.
