David Uhl art
« on: May 11, 2017, 12:54:36 pm »
Artist David Uhl paints amazing motorcycle pictures that tell great stories.  While he concentrates on Harleys the paintings are mostly subjects that would interest any motorcyclist.  For more info look at his website at:  http://www.uhlstudios.com/

Break from the Boards by David Uhl

The board races were held on racetracks constructed of wooden boards and shaped like very large bicycle velodromes.  The bikes of the era could hit as much as 100 mph but didnít have brakes and the riders wore leather helmets and wool jerseys for protective gear.  A fall could skewer a rider with splinters of wood up to a couple of feet long from the track surface and the tracks became even more dangerously unsafe as they aged.  Iíve read stories of spectators sticking their heads up through the holes in the track surface as the boards deteriorated!

The Women of Harley Davidson - Gloria

An early club for women riders was The Motor Maids.  Gloria Struck was one of those riders>  David Uhl recently did a portrait of her and her bike back in the day.

Nice pics.  He's sort of the Norman Rockwell of the MC clan.

When Ian and I visited the Wheels Through Time museum in Maggie Valley, NC the other day you could miss a lot of David Uhl paintings on display.  Yes, Norman Rockwell for the Harley crowd but good stuff anyway even if you're not a HD fan.
