Isle of Man TT
« on: May 16, 2017, 11:05:32 am »

With the Isle of Man TT fortnight starting in about a week's time I'm remembering my trip to the Island last year.  One of the stars every year is John McGuiness who, like a lot of successful riders at the IoM, is an older guy at 45.  Nicknamed "McPint" for obvious reasons McGuiness has been racing at the Island for 18 years.  At a total of 23 wins and 45 podiums he is the second most successful rider at the TT after the late Joey Dunlop.  Unfortunately, I don't think he'll make the TT this year as he had a bad crash during practice for the NorthWest 200 (a road race in Ireland) last week.  He was injured pretty severely and that sort of thing at his age is possibly a career ending incident.

His teammate on the Honda squad this year is Guy Martin and it will be very interesting to see how he and the new big Honda CBR1000 do on the Mountain.  In the last few years the course has been a playground for riders on BMW s1000rr's but with new models from Suzuki and Honda that may change this year.

Certainly it'll be interesting to watch.

Best of luck to every racer on the Island.  They are certainly the bravest in motorsports.

Like I said in another reply -- AMAZING Riders &  Me best to watch from a distance and not be in that race.
Ride Country Roads - a lot. :-)

Do not argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.

If you can,  post some pics of your camp site, tent, etc. You may be like me though and not a prolific pic taker like Paul.
