DAY to RIDE --- Next THU if DANG Weather cooperates and in fact is your day off.

Try the Chattanooga trip (Pump Power Visitor Center), then either Mission Ridge and back north toward home or take a western route north thru Sequatchie Valley to Crossville coming home.

PROBLEM with Western Return Route is -- gonna be like 350 mile day ride for us from here, add stops and Visitor Center visit - it will be a long day.

Congrats!  That is great news.  Riding Thursday?  Sounds good but 300 miles is a lot for just going out for a putt.   Is there a medium distance option?

I think my route will be the medium one since i'm halfway to the destination.

Can't imagine an ol' "Thumper Humper" like Chris worried about 300 miles.  :o

I will work on route some more (put it on as GOOGLE link). It would not be that long for either of you (Chris or Marc) cause we are starting from Seymour. You can join in or bail out where you like.

That said, I seldom do over 220 or 250 for a ride and if it is -- it's some major roads that move fast (not all 30 to 40 MPH backroads).

Probably the Pump Power Visitor Center and back to Missionary Ridge to start the trip home would be more reasonable.

I do like the idea of getting west to come back, but that pretty much ends up in Crossville and is the longer route. However, can use I-40 from Crossvile for the 100 miles left.

I think will be leaving here early (like 7:30AM at Seymour) and not going to be along lunch break at a restaurant with hour of BS. Fast Food or Convenience store stop likely. TRY to Keep Time down for the trip.

Took another look at Chattanooga Ride - still long. Here is what I sent Marc for a preliminary look.

287 miles + 45 miles = 8 HR Ride Time (the +45 miles and extra time over the GOOGLE Map is rest of the way home for me). GOOGLE Map ends near VONORE).

That is with no stops, so add 2 hours for that.

I have included Pump Power Visitor Center, Missionary Ridge (S and N Crest Rds), and Cherokee Memorial (might skip the Memoriaol as it is a bit out of the way and takes time to see it ).

It's a bit long ride for me (8 HR Total Ride Time) plus reckon 2 hours of breaks = 10 hours.

I THINK I CAN THINK I CAN - if I leave here at 7AM (not a lot of time for BS ing and more BS ing for sure) and NO LONG LUNCH BREAKS. Snacks, Convenience store, or Fast Food.

You can meet us as before we reach Evansville if you desire and drop out where you desire to head back home.

UPDATE at 10:17PM --- Marc suggest meet at intersection of Hwy 302 & Pleasant Rd (go to Smyrna Rd to Smyrna Firetower Rd). Looks like a short run easy gravel to the tower (climb it for a view and a break). SOUNDS GOOD TO ME.

It looks like you go through Maryville on your way to meet Marc.  I could meet you somewhere there and join the ride.

Yes, going thru Maryville. I was hoping you might join us, but thought distance concerned you. It will be considerably shorter for you as you save on meetup and return home.

However, I would suggest easier to meet away from Maryville traffic. Less miles overall by a good amount, skip the Maryville traffic, and nothing but a straight boring ride from Maryville on Hwy 411 going south to the other two meeting places I am going to suggest.

From the church on Hwy 336 --- one of two meetups.

First meetup to the MARATHON at Hwy 95 and 411. GOOGLE says 12.7 Miles and 18 Min. It generally takes me 45 MIN (+/-) to get there. So if you get there  by 7:35, would have 5 or 15 MIN wait.
https://www.google.com/maps/dir/35.6385491,-83.9991837/35.6186313,-84.0912076/35.6429138,-84.1475131/@35.6425948,-84.1332514,11.98z/data=!4m2!4m1!3e0

Second meetup at HARDEE'S in Vonore, TN on corner of Hwy 411 and Hwy 360 (by the way, can take a different route than shown by staying on Hwy 336 to Hwy 411 and south to Vonore). The route shown is a more interesting ride and only a couple minutes longer.  GOOGLE says 19 Mile and 25 Minutes. I t generally takes me 1 HR +/- to get to Vonore. So, if you are there  by 7:50AM, would have about a 5 or 15 MIN wait.

I am trying to make time getting to the meetup with Marc, so I will pull in and hopefully leave right away. That said, good chance I will need a bathroom break or a quick stretch of a leg by VONORE. ;) Just not planning any long delay for coffee, or whatever.

Paul,

I answered to set up a meeting point yesterday but for some reason it's not showing up.  I'll be at the Hardee's in Vonore by 0730 waiting for you.  I'll be on the old BMW and will leave in plain sight for you.  I'll probably be inside drinking coffee and eating things that are bad for me.

I hope this second try at posting this works.
