I think alot of them do that so its harder for others not in the group to pass the group.  I have seen alot of groups too large to take at once so I had to leap frog them..

They dont like it when you do that but they will get over it.

Ride your own line is a big one. It's almost always the 4th or 5th rider in the group that smacks the ditch.  They teach you about that in day one when you are doing track days.  People turn in where they think the guy ahead of them did, only to be turning in just a little bit earlier with each subsequent rider until they apex so early they have no option but to run off the road.

I can't think of how many times I surprised people at the Gap who were in groups. "you were 4 and 5 in the group, right?" "How did you know?" It's just that easy a mistake to make and very very common to do.

True Myk, You see it alot up @ the gap with them crossing the dbl ylw inleft handers.

Followed a group thru one day, the last rider was all over the place, Clearly over his head and trying his best to keep up. I passed him as soon as I got a chance then just hung out.
I would blow the horn everytime I saw one of the group cross the line. @ the overlook I walked up and thanked the one rider who stayed in his lane, amazingly he was the 3rd of 6riders.

Im sure we all do our groups a bit differently than other riders so what are some of your own group rules.

1. No man left behind, We will either slow up on the straits or wait at the next turn.
2. If your sure your pace is faster than the one in front of you and want to pass, Do so in a Safe manner. Wait till the next turn/stop and let them know or do so on a strait. Dont hesitate to wave the rider behind you by if there right on your ass. If you pass the leader I hope you know the route.
3. If you get passed dont get your pannies in a wad and start trying to play leap frog
4/ Ride your pace, We wont run off n leave you although we may get out of sight.
5. illegal passing, Dont get caught.
6. stop signs/lights referring to back roads mostly. If its a 4way stop I will pul out then wave the group thru and catch up later, Stop lights, If the group doesnt get thru, pul over n wait in a safe spot for the others.  Not so much of an issue with well seasoned riders though as they will usually catch up. No sense risking a stupid ticket to do so.

Good ones......

You'd be surprised at the ones who can't live by the 1st rule. They will run off and leave you.

The one thing I don't like about riding in a group, is the yo yo  effect. The group gets strung out and then everybody rides faster and then everybody has to get on the brakes to keep from running over the guy in front of them. And it repeats..... nothing more frustrating!  :mad

that is why you put the more Exp/faster riders in the front. If some4one makes a minor hiccup the back of the group will never notice as the others will make very minor corrections that wont get noticed.
